Years 1 and 2 are taught by Miss Pitchford. Here is a little about Miss Pitchford in her own words.
"I trained to be a teacher at Sheffield Hallam University and graduated in 2016. I have been working at Arkwright permanently for 3 years after previously training here for a year prior; once I had qualified I gained a position covering maternity. It is a great place to work and you can feel the warm, friendly atmosphere as soon as you walk in; the best thing about working in a small school is you have the chance to get to know every child. The children in my class are generally hardworking, adventurous and funny. I love teaching all subjects and helping children to learn something new, I enjoy challenging children to try new things and develop their mind-set. I would say that my favourite subjects are P.E and French. I am very lucky to be able to lead P.E here at Arkwright. I have lots of wonderful things going on outside of school at the moment; I am due to get married in December this year to my partner, Brad after almost 8 years together, so with the help of my mum, I am busy planning. When I have some relaxation time, I love walking in Sherwood Pines with my dog, Teddy and attending HIIT classes at my gym".
This half term the children's topic will be 'Where would you prefer to live England or Africa?'
