Free School Meals
At Arkwright Primary, we are committed to ensuring that every child receives a nutritious meal during their time at school. Our Free School Meals program is designed to support families who may require assistance in providing regular meals for their primary-age children.
By offering free school meals, we aim to ensure that all children have access to a balanced and healthy diet, which is essential for their overall well-being and academic success. We strongly believe that no child should ever go hungry or miss out on the opportunity to receive a quality education due to financial constraints.
Our dedicated team of kitchen staff prepares fresh and delicious meals daily, taking into consideration any dietary requirements or allergies your child may have. We strive to offer a diverse menu that caters to different tastes and preferences, ensuring that all children can enjoy their meals and maintain a healthy eating habit.
There are 2 types of free school meals provided within primary education.
The first is Universal Free School Meals, which all children in year groups Reception to Year 2 are entitled to.
The second, Free School Meals, are based on your family income. These must be applied for through Derbyshire County Council. We would encourage anyone who feels they may be entitled to Free schools to visit the Derbyshire County Council website to check your eligibility and apply for your child's free school meal.
